About Us

Who We Are

Grassroots Disability Agenda (GDA) is an Organisation of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) established to ensure that persons with disabilities at the grassroots level set the agenda, influence decisions, and shape policies that affect their lives across Kenya. Our work focuses particularly on pastoralist and marginalised regions where exclusion has been persistent and systemic.
We are advocates of the rights-based model of disability and believe that full inclusion can only be achieved when persons with disabilities understand, claim, and actively defend their rights. Through advocacy, capacity building, storytelling, digital engagement, and the strategic use of technology, we strengthen participation and promote inclusive systems, laws, and attitudes.
At the heart of our approach is the belief that persons with disabilities must challenge unequal power structures and demand accountability from duty bearers. By amplifying grassroots voices and supporting collective action, we work to ensure that those who hold power fulfil their responsibility to create an inclusive society where persons with disabilities fully enjoy their rights.
